Hmmmm...here's what it looks like for the draft.

Round 1 — 29th
Round 5 — 158th
Round 6 — 190th
Round 7 — 222nd

That's a big gaping hole in the middle there. I would think that makes it less likely the Oilers now trade their first as if they do, they can basically send their scouts all home and just use a dart board for the last three selections.

I keep hearing this years draft isn't that strong. Seems to be lots of differing opinions on where players will land. This might be a good year to trade down a bit to get yourself another pick or use this years first as part of a package to get you a different piece.

Anyone taken at 29 or lower will probably be at least 2-3 yrs before they even maybe make an NHL debut. In 3 years, Leon's deal is up. So if you can get a piece that helps you right now and for the next 3 yrs, that might be the way to go.

I'm probably not trading bodies for actual picks, unless you can hoodwink them in to taking a problem like Kassian off our hands.

I'd prefer the Oilers to be going the opposite way at this point.

I was thinking trading the 29th (I refuse to use "#29" ! .. bad voodoo).. if Montreal see's someone they like at 29.. Oil drop down for some combo of Montreal's.. like their 33 plus 62 or 66?

Anaheim is my target to take the Kassian anchor. Beagle v Terry last year showed that the Ducks need some meat to protect their young team.

They also need cap adds.

You want to be the first to take advantage of ex-Oiler Mike Grier?

Guerin, Grier and Horcoff in-training. The old Boys club is a NHL pandemic.

The Sharks have some decent beef in the line up. I'm not sure why they'd be interested in Kassian.

If you're talking about some sort of Kane deal, well...my thesis is we're going to hinge all our off season plans on resigning him, and have something embarrassing happen.

Right now the three likely results from the arbitrator have us either competing in the UFA market or competing on a trade offer.

Definitely the announcement I was looking forward to on draft day. At least we're still the champions of nepotism.

29th + future (2nd + 3rd) + Kassian to Arizona for the #32..

You can tune out until #32 folks

I think Kassian's cap is going to go help pay for one.

I hope it turns out to be the right one!!!

Also, hopefully we have Duncan's cap space to help!

Duncan’s cap being off the books will help with not only the goalie but Dylan Strome

Not when we blow it all on Evander Kane!!!
