He didn't play on Monday and the Jets still won. Dubois being absent doesn't magically fix the Oils' goaltending and defence.

Per Tipp;

Bear had a setback in his recovery and is still out. Wild Bill Lagesson is out. Mike Smith gets the start tonight.

Has Smith started every game since Calgary? I hope we can come back from 3 goals down in the first.

Nope, Koskinen started the second of the b2b v Ottawa.

Smith will rebound tonight.

I can’t seem to find it on Twitter, so can anyone here tell me how many points McDavid is from 500 and the games played relative to Sidney Crosby on reaching that milestone?

He’s at 499. I think it’s still faster if he does it tonight. Not 100% sure on that though.

Why would you use twitter when google is sitting right there with the answer?

McDavid one point from 500, tying Crosby in games needed for milestone
Oilers forward can match Penguins center as eighth-fastest in NHL to mark

lmao Well, that went right over my head. I was pondering how this wouldn't be on twitter but ok, fine. I wasn't 100% sure if today he'd beat or only tie Crosby and found the answer swiftly.

Pretty incredible feat. Had Nuge not had his little cold streak, or had Puljujarvi perhaps been able to bury one, he could have reached 500 faster than Sid, the Kid.

My guess is the next 500 is faster than Crosby's. I will edit to add that Cups are the measure that 97 probably cares about most. I've often thought as a fan that I'd rather have a team of plumbers that win a Cup than a generational player and his team that don't win anything.

If we're talking about things that delayed point #500, archibald missed an empty netter. Also Lucic was glued to him for 20 games or so a couple years back.

Wild Bill day to day, looks like Kowboy draws in tonight.

Jones, PRuss, Shore and Neal skated for extra drills. Sounds also like Haaaaaas will be activated and replace Shore.

What does Jones need to do to get back in the lineup!?

Not sure why we'd ever ice a lineup with both Russell and Koekkoek in it.

Maybe it's his English?

Smith should not be getting this many starts. The norm for him is three quick goals against, the good games were the aberrations.

In spite of everything pointing to a guaranteed win, I'm not sure we can overcome that.

Maybe you haven't heard, but Tippett has a lot of history with Mike Smith.

It seems like for the last few seasons, the Oilers ALWAYS have more games played than their division mates - never seems to shift the games-in-hand balance to them until it evens out in the last month of the season. Maybe it's just my Oiler-glasses...

Another late start of a regional game. I guess 5-8 on Wed is an exclusive window for National Sportsnet games, so we perpetually get late starts. 9PM local start must just be lovely in the 'Peg.

Worst part... we don’t get Jack tonight. Hope it’s not Singh.

I expect Ball will work the Flames game and Singh will do the Oilers game.

Doesn't bother me tho. Not a fan of Jack Micheals. Too homery, too radio, too fake. I feel like he turns into Jack Edwards in a few years.

I have no idea why the NHL isn't experimenting with their schedule more this year. They don't have to worry about fans getting to the rink.

I feel like games have finished quicker this year too. Don't know if that's perception or reality.

They really should be running an early game everyday. Not 5PM eastern like today but like 1PM eastern. Give people something to watch during the day.

I wonder what their playoff ratings were like in the summer. I know I watched a lot of afternoon hockey while working extremely hard.

Looks like kahun is moving down the lineup and ennis is getting a shot on line 2. Should be interesting it's nice having guys like ennis that can move up and down the line up, it's what I was hoping we got in turris but that's been shaky at best
