First shot *against*, no goal. I could get used to this...

I did notice my lower half unclench when Smith stopped that little shot.

It’s been back-and-forth hockey over the past 7 minutes. Very entertaining even if the boys weren’t able to score...

Watching that PP could make it hard to believe that it’s ranked 2nd in the league. Very poor execution.

Wasn't their best PP but full credit the Hawks. They are pressuring the puck carrier very hard. Sometimes they even had two guys pushing. They are giving no time for the PP to set up and start working the low triangle.
One of the most aggressive strategies I have seen this year. Basically daring the Oilers to push for a quick chance instead of setting up. So far it's working as I type this mid way through another PP.
Time for a mid game strategy adjustment.

Agreed, they need to stop trying those cutsie short passes into the slot, as the Hawks keep picking them off or deflecting them...

That was quite easily the worst period of the year for the Oilers

Agreed. That was an ugly one. Lots of mistakes. A lot of puck watching. No jump and lots of lost battles.
They werent all pretty but Smith has made the saves to give the team a chance at a 6th come from behind victory.

C'mon Drai, you get the puck in a shooting position, bury it. Kass ain't the finisher here. Too many passes.

Just saw the goal.

Russell does 1 thing good, blocking shots. That was an unfortunate time for him to decide he doesn't wanna.

bottom 6 forwards remain only good for a goal against per game 5v5.

Smith is the main reason this game is still close. Pretty sloppy play by the Oilers but the PK was good. Chicago with their A game and Edmonton with a C. ( so far )

Of course, Smith then has to make another gaffe that leads directly to the second Hawks goal. Khaira continues to have a rough night in Chi-Town....

One of those games where everyone would rather make a lazy no look pass than to just make a simple play. And the bad passes almost never connect.

Sometimes you need the depth guys to step up when the skill guys are just not dialed in. That stepping up doesn't happen around these parts.

Starting to run a little short on time. These are the games where you need a third or fourth line to spur you with a goal. As great as our start has been, it's glaring that the team has only scored once all year without 97, 29 or 93 on the ice.
