First game after a road trip and the Oilers have had a really tough schedule....

The twitterverse has called him this for a bit now, as he’s the answer everyone thought Rattie would be.

Gotcha. It will be interesting to see if he can generate on the top line and not just on the PP. Not that his role on the PP is bad, I love his production, it is just a diff beast playing 5 V 5.

As far as Rattie goes, I never did like his game overall. I thought his preseason stuff was great and REALLY hoped it translated but in the reg season I often thought he looked out of place. His hockey sense reminds of Yakupov but lacking the raw talent.

This is a very good point, imo. He excelled on 97s wing, but anywhere else and he's just... been another disappointment.

While Gravel has been better than I expected a bottom pairing with any mix of those 4 is going to be an adventure in the D zone.

Just thought of another thing with the lines is JP in the top 6. Up from the minors, one game in the bottom 6 then promoted.
Same with Rattie descending quickly, although Hitch has experience with him already.

I am not sure if these changes are an indication of Hitch having a short leash or simply a plan he had from the start. In a couple interviews he specifically name JP as a guy he was looking to hands on develop.

Rattie to the Penguins for a 5th? Seems like a Chia trade.. then Rattie lights the world on fire with Crosby.

Ahh, Spooner. He got his shot. Played more mins with McDavid (14) last game than Pulju has all year (11). He had 1 missed shot to show for it. Well earned demotion to the 4th line.

So Ty Rattie is pretty much done eh? Played 3 minutes last game, not in the lineup tonight.

I feel bad for the guy, I think if he didn't have that injury he'd still be on the top line, didn't really do anything to lose it. He's pretty much usueless on the bottom 2 lines. 1st line or bust.

Mid-week game against Dallas, team is struggling, weather not great. I figured this would be one of those games where the re-sale on tickets would be $40 or less, but still holding at $60.

Disappointing about Rattie but Hitch has been here for what, barely a week. He wasn't doing much before Hitch got here. Quite frankly, when you are a fringe player battling for your NHL future, you need to do something. If you look at what Chiasson has done, he didn't even start the year in the line up, he's played 6 games less than anyone else. When he got in there, he started on the 4th line, he produced and worked his way up. Rattie started the year in the top 6, got hurt and when he came back, he didn't do anything on any line. It's not like this team is blessed with a ton of really good wingers. If he did anything, he would be playing.

Rattie hasn't really been given much quality ice time though. Hopefully Hitchcock isn't basing his distrust of him from days gone by. I wouldn't throw him away just yet because he can probably turn it around if given the opportunity and because injuries can happen.

Fun Fact: This is the 7th Tuesday in a row with an Oilers game. Every Tuesday except the first one when they were coming back from Sweden.
