Do I expect the Oilers to win this one? Not really but could they have a legit shot? If they play like they have been, hell yeah they do. The ace in the hole might be Talbot. He's had the last 2 games off so he will be mentally and physically fresh. The big thing. Koskinen has been really good. Shut out the Hawks at home, then followed it up with a good win in Detroit. Talbot for the first time in a couple of seasons has legit competition. There is a guy behind him pushing for more ice time so Talbot should be very motivated to have a good game.

If Talbot has a real good game, I think they win.

I agree with you, Washington has been doing some losing and will be motivated.

I heard on 1260 that Washington is starting their back up tonight. The Oilers starter vs the Caps back up. The Oilers starter HAS TO win the goaltending battle.

Over the last decade I would be surprised if any NHL team has a worse record than the Oilers against a backup. We have a tendency of making them look like superstars.

I wonder if there isn't more to the sickness going through the team than has been let on. It's notable that McDavid's time was cut the last two games, and starting a back-up in back-to-back games is very un-McLellan-like. Are there more people sick? Talbot?

This game is a big test against a team the Oilers beat soundly a couple weeks ago. There won't be any surprising the Caps on this one.

The Oilers have made nearly every player in the league look like a superstar at one point or another.

2015/2016 - This Kool-Aid tastes like McDavid flavoured Drain-O.
2016/2017 - This Kool-Aid is starting to taste like juice.
2017/2018 - I'm drinking this Kool-Aid, in hopes that it's Drain-O.
2018/2019 - Another round of Drain-O, good sir!

...except for Talbot in goal, same lineup for the Oilers....Pheonix Copley in goal for Washington..

...I still say play Rattie and rip that third line apart....based on performance, Lucic should be healthy scratched...I'm more than okay with sending Yamamoto and Puljujarvi to Bakersfield to play lots of minutes and gain some confidence....

His parents should be arrested, lightly beaten, and released 75 miles outside of Phoenix.

Minds will be blown if they manage to win this one.

Tough back to back, but we can do this boys. Just keep doing what you're doing. Caps are not an elite team, but they have a couple guys who can kill you by themselves. Constant pressure and another 40 shot effort will win the day.

If the defending Stanley Cup Champs aren't an elite team, who exactly is?

Even after tonight they are 6-4-3 with a +1 goal differential playing a somewhat soft schedule.

I give them credit for somehow getting by the Pens and Lightning in the playoffs, but Vegas was a joke of a team to meet in the finals.
