"@EdmontonOilers: #Oilers place goaltender Jason LaBarbera on waivers."With Ilya signing this was inevitable. Too bad Jason's a good guy.

No surprise here.

In fairness to Hall, I've wanted to throw a waterbottle at Eakins all season.

He may be a good guy, he sure isn't a good goalie. I would be surprised if his league low sv% and GAA find him another team.

His historic numbers are much better than the small sample size of this season, and there's been a few goalie injuries in the last week. There's a chance he lands somewhere else, although he'd be an expensive stop-gap for teams.

Come on. His SV% isn't last in the NHL. He's only 67th out of 71. 66th in GAA (Dubnyk in 62nd).

Good riddance. That game in Phoenix really turned me off him as both a goalie and human being.

I had to ask this in another thread but to surmise, he was pissed off he was pulled and I THINK Eakins said "ok you can go back in". He basically sulked his way back onto the ice???

I'm probably waaaay Off. I read later Eakins used it as a tactic rather than burning off a timeout but that sounded like a copout excuse.

It wouldnt shock me to see him end up in Long Island or Carolina to be honest.

I don't know if he sulked his way back to the net, since the change back happened at a TV timeout and even the announcers seemed to miss it for some time.

However, he did glare at his own player (Arcobello) with his hands in the air after the goal on him just before the pull, and then slashed his stick on the boards in front of the bench on the way out. I don't know that that proves he's an odious human being, but he definitely was upset in very dramatic fashion.

Haha, I also blame him for Dubnyk's performance so far this year seeing as they trained together.

I think we put dubnyk in briefly and pulled him out when it was evident his ankle (which was likely already tweaked) was not able to hold up. It was after that game that it was announced that he had an ankle injury I believe

Thought that was the case too. Eakins didn't have a choice. Next game Bachman was called up.

What happened to you, man? How can you just accept 8 years of losing without looking for the answer to an ill defined question? Obviously not every slight and misstep is the cause of Oilers frustration, but the answer has to be somewhere. Doesn't it? I'm not jumping on the Oilers mythical internet chest with two feet because I enjoy the narrative, I do it because there's a problem, a problem that manifests itself with a decade of losing.

Think after this year his career is over a la belanger. Oil are the last stop on the bus for most. Will have to wait and see if Bryz joins them.

Now that LaBarbera has passed through waivers and been assigned to the Barons, I wonder if the Edmonton media horde will meet him at the airport to grill him with hard-hitting questions:

"Jason, how does it feel to be demoted after being an NHLer for a long time?"

"Would you say that you were the author of your own demise here in Edmonton?"

"Are you going to have to make changes in how you conduct yourself now that you're being sent to the farm?"

"Do you feel you got enough ice time? Was Dallas using you properly?"

"Are you worried about the tornadoes in Oklahoma?"
