Tonight, the Oilers play hockey for 60 minutes, smash the Leafs, and unrealistically raise expectations for the road trip. 4-1.

5 games into the season, and my well of optimism has already run dry. We looked better against MTL, but this team is clearly still learning Eakins' systems. Hoping to at least see a full 60 minutes, and no bad goals by DD

We get throat-punched 5-0, Eakins plays the whole third period without a goalie

I have run out of cool aid and I broke my ankles jumping off the band wagon. I am predicting a terrible out played game on National TV then the Toronto Sports Net and CBC planning the parade for the next couple of days.
Seriously don't know if I am even going to bother watching

With Bernier playing so well I predict a 3-0 shutout. The Oilers right now seem to be "competing" in the sense they are taking the body more, and have shown excellence on the faceoffs. BUT the offense seriously looks confused, comparable to rec hockey.

I've got a baaaaad feelin on this one. The Oilers just love looking horrible on national broadcasts. Hope at the very least Yak can get his first goal of the season tonight.

I think the only thing I'm excited about going into tonight's game is that we'll (hopefully) get Hughson & co calling the game rather than those other idiots.

Not watching in lieu of dinner at Momofuku. So the Oilers are guaranteed to win. Although my sister is going to the game, so that'll make it closer than it should be.

Then I'll just regress, because I feel I've made myself perfectly redundant.

Well we all know Toronto is the master of planning their Stanley Cup Parades up Young, across Bloor, and down Church to the old Gardens on Carleton in October. But their 46 year drought or what have you is a record and it will continue to go until they catch up to the Cubs....

Having said that. I think the Oilers played much better the other night. Maybe their best game in a lot of ways other than too much perimeter play and nobody going to the net than old man river Smyttie. I hate HNC and their man love for the Nucks and Leafs so I hope the Oil bring their A+ game and win solidly.

Eakins has coached 12 of the Leafs players, so using his inside knowledge, and Hall being back home and wanting to prove ex-girlfriends wrong, the Oilers decide to show up, and everyone clicks. Oilers win a decisive victory, 7-1, with Yak having a 3 point night, and hell, well I am at it, there are 7 fights in the 3rd period, with the Oilers winning everyone of them with out question, ending with Dubnyk lifting Bernier over his head ala Bane & Batman, and breaks Bernier's vertebrae. The only response to the game after wards is Eakins, Lowe and MacT in front of a mic, and Eakins says "We told you this team wasn't going to get pushed around anymore", at which point Lowe points at the camera, and then does the cut-the-neck sign, and walks off. MacT gives the up-yours arm signal, and walks off as well. Eakins turns, backhands the mic on the table, sending it flying, and walks off as well.

It's times like this I hate living in Ontario. Sigh.... I have a bad feeling about this game, and I only base that on recent results. I could be wrong- and boy wouldn't I love that! For the sake of my sanity, and my self-esteem, here's hoping for an Oil win.

Yak and Joensuu looked good together in the first game. I'd like to at least see that tried again. Nope, we get to keep old man Smyth in and I guess Joensuu playing on his off wing? Lovely.

Good. Stop thinking of it as punitive. He's a 2nd year rookie who could use a game watching so he thinks about where he needs to be and calm down and play a simple game.

But I fully expect a media and fan explosion over this.

The difference between winning and losing this game is a guy who has been arguably the worst top 9 forward so far this year sitting? He has looked like he is having serious issues fitting in to the new systems, and needs to see the game from above. Will see if that lights a fire under him.

AND everyone has to realize he also had a shooting percentage last year (21%) that he has almost no chance of repeating, AND teams have more data on him.

Sad that there are/will be so many people almost hoping the Oilers lose this game because Yakupov is sitting.

Yak has shown nothing this year, even in preseason. He has to figure some thngs out, no loss to the line up until then.
