Huge 2 points. Regulation W would have been nice, but we still have a game in hand. More importantly, it puts us 5 up on Vegas.

Going to have to rewatch parts of this game tomorrow and see if I see it as bad as I did live. Man that was brutal. In the 3rd and OT, the Kings really were just doing whatever they liked with impunity. How does that guy who lost his stick in the OT not take a penalty?

Yep. Pretty much… Kings and Vegas have a much easier schedule to finish the year than Edmonton, I think anyway. Oilers have 8 games against teams currently in playoff spots while both LA and Vegas have 4… … …I’ve been in Vegas the last few days tho and a bit inebriated so don’t quote me on this

Honestly, I don't think I want to win the division anyway - I think I would rather face LA in the first round than any of Nashville, Dallas, or St Louis. 2nd would be perfect to get home ice in the first round, and then ideally we win and the Flames lose and we play one of the wild cards in the 2nd round :)

Or at least I think that's how it works (no re-seeding after first round?)

I was at this game, Kings were lining up at center, supporting their depleted D, Oilers except a couple shifts weren't able to establish much long term in the offensive zone. I thought the Oilers might be able to establish lots of o zone possession against a Kings D missing 4 guys I think, but didn't seem like they were able to do that as much as they would have liked.

Reffing was brutal, all kinds of clutching and grabbing by LA, Oilers only got away with 1 trip that I saw late in the game. Oilers PP wasnt great.

3rd line got burnt for a couple ES goals against, not so much due to what they were or weren't doing, one of them was a stop that should have been made. I thought Woodcroft might demote Archie, he was running around a bit but wasn't meshing well with Nuge and Brassard, it was tough getting traction. They ended up promoting Ryan and Foegele with Nuge and the play was better.

I will say this was one of the most physical games I've seen from JP. Even saw a bit of nastiness after a play. Could be huge if this guy becomes a physical entity, the possibilities are endless if that gets added to his game, and that would be great for the playoffs.

This could easily have gone the wrong way, Kings whiffed on an open net, play late in the 3rd that Barrie saved a goal against, and I think the Kings got a post in OT. Kings racked up lots of shots, but not huge open chances due to blown coverage, and probably one big error by the Oilers in the whole game I think was a Bouchard giveaway that ended up in the net.

Anyway, Oilers got 2 points, Kings given their circumstances are probably pretty tickled with their game tonight.

Also, never going to sit in 3rd row in the corner again, terrible seat, gotta be at least 4 or 5 rows higher in the corner, spent 2 periods craning at the big screen.

I noticed that last game as well.. but tonight he really seemed to focus on finishing checks and playing the body.. like it had been a pre-game plan.. and it worked well.. causing turnovers.. hurrying play.. stopping players from joining the play up ice.. it was awesome.. a glimpse of what kind of weapon Bison could become.

I suspect Kane has had a positive influence on him, it seemed to have started when JP joined the McD line with Kane.. and I think Kane is talking to JP all the time.. the last game whatever Kane said to JP on the bench had him cracking up.. Kane is probably explaining to JP to use his massive frame to cause havoc, separate pucks from people, and if there's any retaliation from the other team.. don't worry.. he'll take care of it.

Got a reminder of what the hockey will look like in the playoffs. Playoff hockey is always exciting but all the crap they let go just drags the skill down of the game. Even the goal that got called back on interference, if you watch Kopitar, he's got his glove in McD's face and it looked like he almost grabbed the strap of his helmet, then he grabs him by the shoulder. McD was able to "battle through" but come on. The only thing left Kopitar could do was jump on his back.

I thought the Nuge line really fought the puck last night.

McLeod can look sooo good one game then just meh another. I hope it's not a young player not handling the increased pressure of late season/playoff hockey because it seems when the intensity of the opponent rises, he's not right now.

Bouchard is still fighting it still. See above for what I said about McLeod. The games are only going to get tougher and he needs to find a way to increase his level.

JP doesn't need to run around looking to put guys through a wall, he just needs to use that giant body of his like he's starting to do. Use it to get body position, use it to shield guys, bump into guys to steal pucks and get a little space. If even a small about of Kane's physical style could rub off on JP, JP would be an absolute force.

I do think Jp's hands are coming back as he's starting to make more skill plays the last few games. Good timing, they need him.

I was so impressed with the tenacity that McDavid and Drai played with all night. Their battle to get to the net and get shots was incredible. I think I saw somewhere they had 14 shots combined. If Drai had scored on the spinorama at the end that would have been just an unreal finish. 2 much needed points regardless.

So far I think McD, Leon, Yamo and Hyman have all picked up their games.

Kane to me has been bringing it most nights.

JP took a bit but I think based on the last 2 games, I hope he's starting to ramp up his game. It looks like he is.

I feel like Foegele is starting to come on again. I'd like to see him get a few more mins, maybe elevate him to the 3rd line.

I think McLeod, Nuge, Bouchard, Barrie all need to pick it up a little. Nuge is coming off an injury so sometimes after the high of being back in the line up, there is a bit of a lull. I don't think Nuge has been bad but his last 2 games I thought he was pretty quiet.

I'd like to see Woodcroft just make a decision on who's the other right winger and who's on the 4th line and get them going. Brassard will be there, he's new so it might take him a bit.

From where McLeod started from to start the year, I 100% agree. He's improved a lot and looks like a legit player. I just think that with his speed and at 6'2, 207, there is more for him to give. He can at times be pretty invisible. As he continues to develop, I am hopefully that he will realize how big he is and with his speed could be a force. You don't have to drill a guy through the boards but no reason he can't be winning more puck battles and be harder on the forecheck. Use his big frame more to box guys out.

I just watch at how dogged Yamo can be at times along the boards and in the corners and he is giving up 6 inches and over 50 lbs on McLeod. I'd love to see McLeod be a little more like that.
