What is this team that plays on back-to-back nights and put in decent efforts to get consecutive wins? Are they a mirage?

The Apprentice defeats his master at the first attempt!!!

Dare I suggest we look like a team once more? Perhaps it was just time for a new voice in the room, nothing against Tipp, but it does seem that a new voice has awoken the players from the slump even with minimal changes

Saying that I did have a big rant ready for Kane taking that penalty in the 3rd ready, as we had control of the period untill that happened and from there the Kings came back and looked dangerous. However we found the way to get back in front so all is forgiven for now.

You know, I'm just so disappointed in Tyler Benson tonight...

Wait. Was he playing? Definitely didn’t notice him out there. 😏

In all seriousness. I don’t remember seeing Shore on the ice at all. Bring Benson back in please

I thought the same about Shore and had to look it up.

I guess he didn't make an impression in his 2:57 of ice time.
Don't worry though, he didnt get shut out in the box score, he was credited with one hit!
I wonder if he touched the puck?

Next forward was Foegle at 10:57.

Even with 11 forwards dressed it is clear that the bottom of the forward lineup isn't trusted with much ice time. I wonder if we will see another call up sooner than later.

Some might say he was where he belongs.

3goals against in 3 games. We haven’t seen this at all this season. The commitment to defence is undeniable.

What’s changed? Does a coaching change and a positive attitude mean that much? Is this sustainable?

I’m so confused. The only things I consider as matter of of fact is Koskinen is done. Smith still has brain farts. Skinner needs more starts.

Waiting for the team to implode, but all signs point to a young coach who can speak to young players. Tell me I’m wrong. I hate Koolaid.

Noticed the Oilers aren't giving up the blue line as easy as they used to.. I'm crediting Manson for that.

Defense seems a little more coordinated in their own zone.

But the real reason for the win is the Navy uni's.. 3 W's in a row .. dress for success! icon_nod

I said in another thread that I didn't like the navy uniforms very much, but if they win consistently in them, and then do it in the playoffs then I reserve the right to come around on them.

100% agree on the blue line. I dont think it is a coincidence that this started happening three games ago.
The forwards playing two way hockey has been talked about a lot. I think the D are switching to a much more traditional style as well, both defending zone entries and once pinned in the zone.
You mention a lot how often certain guys look lost and keeping it simple means they can rely on reflexes and not be delayed with decision making as often.

I am concerned that no one can lead the league in blocked shots this way...

I wouldn't have liked to be in the stands for that game as it would have been boring as hell for most of it. Extremely tight checking. The Kings had 4 guys standing at the blueline waiting.

Except for his puck handling mishaps, Smith played really well which was needed because Petersen was good. I WISH Smith would dial back the puck handling a bit. Gets 2 icings in a period. Literally cuts his own dman off to get the puck then proceeds to overpass the puck that leads to the scoring chance that he misses for the opening goal. That's a goal that no other teams have happen because no one has a goalie that would do that. Then he follows it up by fumbling the puck that leads to Lagesson taking a penalty late in the first.

I am loving how Manson is handling the defense. With all those young guys, I had some concerns but he is splitting the ice time up and it's definitely helping.

They need to find a way to keep Niemelainen in when everyone is healthy. He brings a dimension that other guys don't bring other than Nurse and they sorely need.

The PK looks like its found it's form again.

PP. I don't know what's up with it but it's out of sync. The good thing is early in the season, they were winning games because of it. Lately they are winning games without it. It's got too many good players for their funk to continue so when it comes back, even if it's a little bit, it will only make them better.

They need to find a solution for the 4th line. Pretty obvious Shore is not the answer. I would guess he played him because you don't want guys sitting too long but with the very little amount of time he was played, sure sends a message to the GM the coach doesn't see him as usable. Benson, I won't say anything more about him. He's just a warm body taking up space until someone better comes around.

Big win!! Nice seeing them in the top 3, a place they should have been in the whole time roster flaws and all.

I remember Shore getting the hit and the announcers saying his name for a moment, the only time I noticed him, and based on the ice time just about his only shift. I think the hit was in the Kings zone, but I am sure he didn't get the puck.

I hope Niemelainen stays in the lineup as well, and if they play 7 D then that makes it easier. When Keith is back I think they send Broberg down. At one point in the 3rd Niemelainen had a Kings player pinned up on the boards and I had to laugh because Niemelainen had the guy completely immobile. It was lke the guy couldn't push off the boards one bit. I'm sure he was more focused on the puck, but you normally see a little more movement than that guy had with Niemelainen crushing him against the boards.
