Habs miss Price much? Mind you, it doesn't really matter when you can't score a goal yourself. Also, Bennett scored yet again.

Wheeler and Scheiffle both have the cooties. NHL is gonna have to expand lineups for these kind of situations.

I expect it'll happen more frequently, the virus circulating is all delta now, alpha-vaccination doesn't protect against new delta infections, expect more cases like this, teams might have to re-institute pre-vax protocols for team members.

I'm not happy about it. Big loss for Team Canada this Olympics.
Anyway, he's a pest, but I don't consider him a dirty player like Gio.

The NHL? What else could they do? They’ve got protocols, testing, masking, mandates, and near total vaccination rates. What else do you expect out of an employer?

This is fine.

Exactly.
Nature happening as expected, those vaccinated (alpha vaccine) will have very little resistance to delta variant, and future variants. Not the player's fault, they all got vaccinated, unless they want to put all the teams back into an absolute quarantine again, c/w hub cities. Intent of vaccination is not to eliminate infection, never has, its to limit severity of symptoms.

The male Cassie in my books.

I’ve really enjoyed Jack Michaels with Debrusk. It’s just a shame that when we get that pair we get exposed to Stauffer during intermissions. Stauffer on radio is one thing he actually seeing him while he’s flapping those lips and squinting into the camera as tho hes staring into the sun... woof.

Poor Stauffy.. face for radio fo sho :)

Vancouver used to have a radio sports talk guy (Dan Russell) who had the only sports radio show, complete market share, being the big cheese in town he used to think he should be doing Canucks game play by play, never ever happened, but years later he did manage to do some WHL Giants games.. oh man, guy was absolutely brutal!! Lesson, there are only a few guys that can do hockey PxP well.

Michaels is good for a local market broadcast, and Louie being an ex player, always brings it.

ESPN had a woman doing PxP for a NHL game the other night..

I'm firmly in the 'love to see it' camp. Wouldn't mind that franchise experiencing something apocalyptic in terms of the organization, folding, and having a player dispersal. Or....moving to Quebec City, that'd be a hoot. I'd be good with a playoff miss this year though.

TSN keeps driving this narrative that McDavid is going to ask for a trade out of Edmonton. I would love to see Matthews do that in Toronto.

Seth Jones on the ice for 10 goals against, 1 for this year.

I'd laugh at Chicago for going all in on Jones like they did who has been trending down for years now, except I have to then remember how we paid them to help them achieve their goal. And also that Jones contract we helped them be able to sign ASAP screwed us in the negotiations with Nurse.

Marc-Andre Fleury with a .839 save percentage and 5.75 goals against average so far. He's going to struggle to repeat as Vezina winner with those numbers.

I wonder where the biggest issue lies in Chicago? Is it defence? Goaltending? Only 12 goals in 6 games, so maybe they're just overall terrible. Seth Jones just caught in the vortex of suck - so maybe the numbers are more unkind to him than he deserves?

Are you trying to create an excuse for Duncan Keith's last 2 seasons? :)

Bad luck probably factoring in for Jones to make him look extra bad. Will be interesting to see how this year plays out for him.

In no particular order:

Seattle is an expansion
Los Angeles might be improving but are starting from awful
Anaheim is Eakins
San Jose is experiencing the cyclical nature of the NHL
Vancouver is run like the Oilers
Being convinced Calgary is good at this point is as foolish as thinking Vegas must be bad
Edmonton's defense (maybe) and goaltending (probably) are limiting factors.

I'm not sure 3 games disproves or changes that.

This is fine.

Why the hell kind of smoke & mirrors is going on in Calgary? HNIC panel going on about their big D being right for the playoffs.Hopefully this is just an early run and they settle soon into mediocrity & suck.

Weak schedule, relying on the pp, I'd rather have Tip and Smitty (battler suited for playoffs). Theyre a mirage.

Ottawa continues to Ottawa. Brady Tkachuk named captain, six weeks after he turns 22 and coming off a contract hold-out.

I think it's pretty nuts that so many teams are so happy to push really young kids in to these roles so early.

Holdouts are team guys all the way, aren't they? I'm not convinced that either of the Tkachuk boys registers low enough on the douche meter to be a team captain, but who knows? Could be entertaining to watch Calgary implode if that idiot is ever promoted to captain there.

I read that they are apparently annoyed that Weekes said that Tkachuk was being offered up to the Sabres for Eichel for fear that that changes his attitude towards re-signing in Calgary...

If he really was the offer from Calgary, it's interesting that the Sabres chose the Vegas return...you would have to think contract status came in to that.

Ottawa continues to Ottawa. Brady Tkachuk named captain, six weeks after he turns 22 and coming off a contract hold-out.

Well it's probably been touched on here, but they're saying that was Weekes doing former teammate Adams a solid to sweeten the offer from Vegas. Doesn't seem responsible for an insider to do that, to me, of that's true. Allegedly Treliving was on the blower immediately to Turtle to say it wasn't so.

Also, it has to be considered that Buffalo might not have wanted the Matt Tkachuk personality on their roster. To me, I don't know if the talent trumps the persona enough to ever want him as an Oiler, for example.

I do think sometimes these guys can get used too. Remember Sather feeding Dreger all the BS about how the bidding war for Talbot was going, and Dreger dutifully reporting it all out again and again - only to be completely shown up when the actual price finally came out?

It's pretty advanced for the Waterboy in Buffalo, but there's a chance he saw a similar opportunity and fed fake information through...

Taylor Hall given the A in Boston. Couldn't happen to a better guy. Great in the room. Just a class act all the way.

Perhaps what we, the fans, hear about players is not the whole story on players? No, that couldn't possibly be.

Taylor Hall is widely considered a jerk by many fans and such. Yet, he has worn a letter in multiple leagues and cities. Almost every ex-teammate seems to like him. .

Toews and Keith walked with halos for years to fans. Seems they werent so great.

It's almost like the teams use PR and the media to slant opinions on players to suit their agenda...

Because sarcasm doesn't always come through on here let me be clear. Taylor Hall is awesome and deserves nothing but success and it's a shame the first portion of his career was wasted by an incompetent management group who also managed to attach the stench of their awful performance to him for several years after he left.

I do think this level of bitterness towards Taylor Hall is ridiculous. What exactly is the source of it? That he didn't win a Cup here?

I mean, I can see someone feeling a little disappointment about young stars that don't fully blossom here, but A) he only ever played on terrible Oilers teams, B) he got traded away against what he wanted, and C) I don't think there's any question he played hard as an Oiler. You could debate that he wasn't the best two-way player in the game. I don't know that I agree that he's a big liability, but I could understand the debate.

But making super-snarky remarks about him like a scorned ex is beyond the pale. It suggests some level of personal grudge.

One could maybe suggest that I've been pretty snarky about Oilers management, but A) I'm always willing to talk about the roots of that and B) they literally crippled this team for over a decade with their moves - they're actually in charge of the team and making it better so that it doesn't rely on one kid in his early 20s to be the saviour every night.

I am really curious why someone would have SO MUCH vitriol towards Taylor Hall. As far as I can tell, you only hate him for not being Connor McDavid. I'm curious why Nugent-Hopkins and Yakupov don't get equal amounts of hate from you? Of course, you have said you hated Paul Coffey too, so maybe it's just skill guys you don't like...still not clear why that would be so bitter though...

Ah yes, 1 PPG and -1 in a 5-2 loss. Advanced stats like plus/minus always confuse me but it does seem clear it was Hall's fault.

It goes beyond just his stat line. It's a Lowe-tier curse.

Agreed that sarcasm doesn't come across well. I was piggy backing your sarcasm with a bit of it myself.

All fan bases have their spot but there seems to be a higher ratio of Oiler fans that buy into the propaganda BS about some players.

There are very few reasons to flat out hate Hall but it is easier for some fans to hate a star than to blame the org.
It is also why some mid roster players become heroes for grit and truculence or the like when they are only marginally above replacement level. I will never understand it.

The team wasn't bad because of Hall and somehow he was successful in spite of it.

DO we have to give Darryl Sutter some credit yet?
