I have a two part question:

How much do you think Gene Principe makes for telling obvious puns adding no other perceivable value to the broadcast?

How many people did Sportsnet lay off last year and how was he not one of them?

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

I can hear it now...
Toronto Star reporter.. "So Connor.. did you find that NOT having Mathews playing tonight really decreased your own personal inspiration and motivation for tonight's game.. is that why you were held pointless? .. Care to comment on that?"

I blame TIPPETT for, on purpose, NOT putting out the lineup giving the OIL the best chance to win.

example 1: Sitting Bouchard. This hurts the team in TWO ways. A. It eliminates a puck moving defense man with offense producing potential. And B: forces more ice time for Barrie and Russel who, I would argue, are NOT better players.

example 2: Going back to playing 12 forwards. Playing 11 forwards gave TIPPETT the option to give 29 or 97 time at the 4C slot. When is it a bad thing to play McD more??? Trick question... it is NEVER a bad thing to play McD more.

TIPPETT's player moves continue to be horrible. Just play the best players. This isn't a minor PEEWEE team where you have to sooth egos and give everyone an equal chance to play. I await his next decision to bring back Turris. Gawd. icon_frown

Meh, sometimes you lose.

I'd have preferred Koskinen. No reason to ride Smith into the ground.

I prefer not using Kowboy unless absolutely needed.

But sometimes you just don't get the luck. Be ready Monday.

Bummer game. Lots of chances early and couldn't buy one. Bad penalty and kinda threw in the towel for a while until the game was out of reach.

2 more games vs the Laffs to make up for it.

I’ll focus on the positives tonight:

- I am in Jasper and didn’t get to watch this one.
- I saw a wolf yesterday, only the 3rd I’ve ever seen and the first I’ve been able to photograph. Picture is terrible but it was still a thrill to spot him.

For the first two periods our performance wasn't that bad, we battled well, we had plenty of shifts where we dominated them and our defence dealt with them without much cause for alarm. The only difference between the teams was they got the puck in the net and we couldn't. Had we got a goal I honestly felt that we'd charge back and make a game of it.

However, that third period it was if they knew nothing was going to happen, and just went through the motions.

I said before the game started that if we come out of this series 2-1 then I'd be happy. We've got to pick up in the next two games for sure, and I can't see us being this bereft of quality chances again, so roll on game 2 and move on. Occasionally these type of games happen, as frustrating as hell they may be especially after such a good run, you just hope it isn't the start of a run of poor results.

Can’t win them all.

Top 6 laid an egg. Smith was fighting the puck.

Koskinen’s turn.

Thanks for the invite. Yeesh.

I’ll focus on the positives also;

- had an interview over Skype for a gig in the Edmonton area last week (internally screaming). ‘Sposed to hear back this week (fingers crossed!!!)
- wolves are so beautiful. I’ve seen 3 as well, 2 while hiking around Jasper maybe 12 years ago and saw a Timberwolf just outside Waskesiu about 15 years ago walking down the road. Hooooly crap he was massive. Saw us and just stopped and stared. Unreal. So beautiful.
- made the fluffiest pancakes ever this morning. Win.

- I also pulled ahead of Pi in fantasy on the week. So there’s that too

The Leafs taught the Oilers a lesson. You actually have to shot up and work to win games against anyone decent.

I don't like to point the finger at the top guy but the top 6 was bad, McD being the main one. Doesn't matter what team it is, you won't win when your best player goes pointless and ends up -3. All he could muster was 1 shot. Not a good night.

Still don't get why they played P.Russell.
