Personally, I don't like to see Gretzky records tied or broken... icon_nod

Just give me the two points, but I could live with McDavid breaking the points record for a career in Edmonton.

McD would be worthy... icon_nod

I wonder if this the first NHL game with three German born players? I think I heard today that Stutzle was the 40th all time to play a game

Maybe scared Matty will call him out as disrespectful if he breaks a Gretzky record.

Why let Chiasson serve the bench minor? Why not someone with some speed you COULD spring upon their return

Yeah - I hate seeing them let off. A lot less icetime for the top guys in that third period. You could tell they're not pushing for the record when right after a Senator powerplay ends, and an icing call, they put out the Turris line instead of one of the top two.

Ah well, still nice to get two wins in a row for the first time this year!

Agreed, Individual records are TEAM records as well... SLATS knew it. TIPPETT, not so much.

It's pretty much all coaches now. It's a stupid thing that comes from a generation of coaches who watched too much Coach's Corner.

The thing is, I really doubt that Cherry even coached that way - I don't see Esposito and Orr letting off on teams and putting up the numbers that they did. I think Grapes always meant in kids hockey don't rub it in, but so many coaches think it's gospel.

Just 17 minutes for McDavid tonight, with about 12 of them at even strength. I'd kill for a coach that supported players going and getting their marks.

I don’t mind keeping your stars off with a big lead because injuries happen.

But when Draisaitl has 6 pts with a whole 3rd period to go, you let him go for the record.
