BUmmer. At least we're helping Pasta take the rocket from Matthews.

Huge point regardless.

That play by Nurse (sliding out of the picture and allowing for the wide-open pass for the breakaway) does remind us how much we miss Klef in OT....

Probably better off playing Jones there. Nurse was spent, and we keep tossing him out there. He was useless in OT, almost any other D on the team would have been more useful at that point, even Larsson if he was just out there hanging back and playing it safe.

I'd really like to see more of Bear in OT, as he has the faster wheels than Nurse.

Darnells lack of hockey IQ is startling at times as well.

Yeah he was gassed every period tonight.

Bad night for him. I’m very glad we aren’t paying him $8million

I’m really hoping our young crop of D men keep improving, giving Holland options in 2 years regarding Nurse.

I love his toughness, but his reads are improving at a snails pace.

Nurse thinks he has great offensive ability but he is wrong he continually gasses plays by taking outside shots and making dumb decisions. Good point for team.

Gregor asked Tippett specifically what he thought of the #1 powerplay unit tonight.

I sense he was fishing for some feedback about Nurse. Tips wasn’t biting though, even though it’s was as noticeable as the shine on Jason’s head.

You have to like that he won't bite on that sort of thing or throw his players under the bus when they had a so so or bad game. Only thing that does is undermine their confidence and it's not good for team moral.

Too bad about the extra point but who would have thought they would tie the best team in the league in goals and shots with six regulars out of the line up including you know who. This team has come a long way. Smith was great again but a really gritty team effort. Tippet won't have much to complain about after this one. Smith and Bear first and second stars of the game. Liking Bear more and more.

3 below average opponents coming up. Minny, LA, Anaheim. Hope they can find a way to win 2/3 of those. Then 2 tougher ones against Vegas and the Jets to finish the year.

March is a wild ride:

https://www.nhl.com/oilers/schedule/2020-03-01/MT

16 games in 31 days. Fingers crossed we have a fresh McDavid and Klef ready to take that on. Kassian comes back Feb 29th for the Jets game.

Stayed quiet during the game, but with so many out and against Boston, this as did the game on Sunday shows us how far Tippet has brought this team on. I'm highlighting team as for the first time in a very long, long time I sense we are a team fighting for each other rather than themselves. It's showing all over the ice, which is incredible considering the only real changes this year were the free agents coming in.

To come off that first period 8 shots behind them and then to tie it up in the second was a fine effort, and though we didn't create many clean cut chances we certainly pushed them back. It bodes well for when those on the IR come back, after something of a break with some extra energy for the back end of the season and possibly post season.

To be fair to Nurse, he did play like 1/2 the game on the ice. Bad read led to the overtime loss, but a strong work hard blue collar point. When have seen this in the last 15 years? It was fun and a strong game had by all.

Bad read led to the loss and oh well.

He was poor on the PP. I think Bear would be better. Cap management perhaps?

Can't get too mad at Tippett since he's turned a lot of things around with this group so far, but I can't help but wonder sometimes about how he handles ice time for certain guys. Nurse must have been just wasted by OT, but he puts him out anyways, and you get exactly what you expect. He looked slow, he made some sell out plays where he just looks exhausted and wants everything over ASAP, and unfortunately, leads to losing the chance at an extra point.

Drai also just played the most ice time in that game that any forward has played this entire season. I really hope we don't burn him out before McDavid is back. We can't afford to have December Drai back for the March grind.
