Oilers will be wearing their new 3rd jersey's tonight, interested in how they look with full equipment.

I sure hope the Oilers don't take the Wings lightly. These points early in the season are huge when the Oilers schedule starts getting a lot more tough.

MUST WIN!

The Oilers won against the Flyers but didn't play well at all. Koskinen bailed them out. Even the players were saying they stunk. So I don't think they will come in feeling too high and look past the Wings. I am sure there was A LOT of teaching moments for Tippett so I am expecting them to come out flying.

As crazy as this sounds, I think the Oilers actually might have the edge in goaltending tonight. I don't know if I really like the Wings 2 guys over the Oilers 2 guys.

Howard played last night, I'm assuming that means Bernier tonight.

Oiler goalies both have great numbers this year, don't know why you want to drag them down.

I am not dragging them down at all. I have been pleased with the goaltending. My comment was more directed to all the early abuse they took but a lot of the media people.

How many goals did they score on Granlund's penalties?

Oilers are selling hope.

I just hope they keep Bear when Larsson returns and they send Benning down or anyone but Bear. Bear is someone the Oilers actually drafted, developed and are seeing dividends from. Would like to see Yamamoto work his way up and provide some scoring on the second or third line. Just would like to see the farm system pay some real dividends after being a gong show for so long prior to Bakersfield.

So this is what hope feels like?

When Larsson is back, assume he stays with the team. The spot he would probably slide into is Persson's. Persson is out for a week, he hasn't been bad so far. I think there might be a player there but so far he hasn't solidified his spot like Bear has. All bets are off is he comes back and continues to get better and better. If Persson does, that bodes well for the Oilers as they could get a decent asset for Larsson.

Come on. No one would trade a dynamic scoring forward who's been in the top ten left wings in the game for the last few years for a defensive defenceman who's maybe top 60 in the league at his position.

You couldn't even make that trade on an EA Sports game! It strains credulity!

A GM would have to be a complete retard to make this kind of trade, so it must be impossible, right?

You need to let it go man. It's a tired, over used, not funny comment. It was a lousy trade. It was a mistake. No one disputes that. I bet even Chia would admit he'd like that one back. It's been 4 years. Let it go.

Larsson is still out for at minimum a couple more weeks, and probably another month.

Manning is the obvious demotion when he's back. There'll be some competition on the right side at that point (unless there's more injuries). Benning is doing something right - best plus/minus on the team. He's been pretty solid in his role - which is what we've seen with him. If you have him as your 3RD, you're in good shape. He struggles when you play him way up the lineup, but he's good in that slot.

That's been the problem here for years. Exhibit A - Justin Schultz. An absolute stud PP s
specialist who was on pace to obliterate AHL Dman records. Was tied for 12th overall for Dman points, 8th for goals, tied for 5th in rookie scoring in 2013...as a #4 with PP1, he was a great asset. But then we decided he was a #1, and that was the beginning of the end. The Peter principle has been a staple in Oilerland for years. Let's hope this is the end of it.

Glad they are giving him a chance, more potential for some offence from him as he gains more NHL experience I think. Hasn't played enough to really evaluate that in him yet so it's time to give him some ice time.
