What the heck do you people have against heart and soul Oiler Ryan Smyth. This whole decade+ of darkness began because we traded him. He's back for a year with the Org and we get to the 2nd round of the playoffs. He leaves, the team tanks.

I assume the only reason he's there is because he now lives in Nashville, the Oilers are there and he really has nothing else to do. Stacey hadn't assigned him any tasks today, so may as well go watch practice.

I was thinking about Smyth though this week as a similar meat-and-potatoes, completely over-rated player had his number retired in Arizona. Once again, I thought - please, just don't let us disgrace the organization further by retiring #94...

Of course, after everything else that's happened with this team, how much worse could it get. Retiring Smyth's number would just be one more mistake in a long series of them.

That's true Adam. I agree with you 100%. Some people do hate Ryan Smyth, and it's because their hearts are made of pure evil, held in place by the jagged fingers of Satan.

2015/2016 - This Kool-Aid tastes like McDavid flavoured Drain-O.
2016/2017 - This Kool-Aid is starting to taste like juice.

Haha...helping is a bit of a stretch. Apparently he wanted to work with prospects, but he didn't want to travel and pretty much none of the prospects were here so I don't think it was a particularly successful marriage. Such a shame though, given all the stumping Matheson did to try to get him a job...
