I don’t know about that. Seems to me Gagner’s presence sparked an offensive explosion for the Oil. Two goals!

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

I only watched the tail end of the 3rd, but Samwise looked good out there. Had a few chances, was creating. Same end result though....

I'm looking for the rematch in Edmonton, all I want is for Nurse to kick Anders Lee's ass.
After watching that game, there are so many guys in that lineup who's total skill package just don't add up to an NHL player. Pulju going down to AHL I'm betting. Good call. Maybe the Spooner for Gagner trade was to open a space in Bakersfield for Pulju. Spooner wasn't welcome on the Oiler roster, so Gagner fills a spot in Edmonton so they can get rid of Spooner in Bakersfield.

Just because we’ll finish with the best odds, doesn’t guarantee we win the lottery. Though it would be nice to guarnatee a higher pick.

Sorry. Another weiner comment haha.

There must be data on it somewhere, I wonder what the actual ‘best’ place to finish has been since the implementation of the lottery.

Best meaning most successful

So, McDavid 100+ points and Drai possibly 50 goals?

Well, funny you should mention that. I re-ran the numbers for percentages of goals that the Big 3 have been involved in. They're now at 130 out of 160 on the season - a staggering 81%.

In the 38 games since Hitchcock arrived, they're at 90 of 103...

It's insane. The team scored 17 goals without McDavid, Draisaitl or Nugent-Hopkins contributing under McLellan in 20 games, but under Hitch, they've got a grand total of 13 non-Big 3 goals in 38 games.

I agree with a lot of the pundits that this is a really weak team with no depth, but I think they might have gone backwards under Hitchcock, and if not for the brilliance of our three good players, this could be even worse - hard as that is to believe.

Other fun stats from today - Koskinen still hasn't won a game since he signed his contract. The Oilers have lost 11 of their last 12 games (two in OT, so there's at least a couple Bettman points). And Colby Cave is on the second powerplay unit.

For those wondering, Cave has now played nine games with the Oilers. He has tallied 0-0-0 in those games with 10 shots on goal - four of which came in one game. He belongs on an NHL powerplay unit about as much as Tobey Peterson did.

Oh, and both Matheson and Stauffer were suggesting that Keith Gretzky could/should be the new GM. You have to think that the Oilers are floating trial balloons to see if this is something they can sneak by on the fans...

I wonder how much of that is just Chiasson inevitably returning to his normal self. He's now gone 15 games without a goal, 2 in his last 20. Should've traded him 2 weeks ago.

Oilers now on pace for 230GF/276GA for a -46 goal differential. And a stunning 74 points. This team is worse than last year. And that's with McDavid, Drai and Nuge all having career years.

Oilers Goal Differential
17/18: 234 GF / 263 GA (-29)
18/19: 232 GF / 274 GA (-42)
19/20 (82 game pace): 257 GF / 254 GA (+3) in 64 games
2021 (82 game pace):269 GF / 235 GA (+34) after 38 games

19 of his 27 points have come on goals involving either Drai or McD. It could be argued that moving him off that line affected his production. I don't have comparative stats to show if moving him off the top line affected Drai's and McD's combined production or if they are doing better without him. I also don't have comparative stats showing if Kassian on the line has improved Drai and McD's output.

Saw a mention that the Oilers season ticket wait-list may be empty. Please let this be true.

What's left to sell the fans to hype them up? We've drafted 1st overall 4 times and still suck. The arena hype is dead. We proved that you can ice a toilet team even with a generational talent in the mix for, and winning art ross trophies. We've make bad hire after bad hire and the people that did it are in charge of the next hires.

Really...what's left?

Dude you gotta stop! First you talked about wanting to see this team without Conner and Drai. Then you dare to type out "what's left"? Why not say "what else can go wrong".

Don't put that stuff out to the ether! Careful what you wish for!

Let's just agree to say "it's not getting better is it?" Because than maybe it will. Please nobody utter "can this get any worse?"

Oilers org may be finally out of bullcrap to sell to people to trick them into giving them money. That ticket wait list being wiped out would probably be the best thing to happen to this org since the 2006 run. Even better than McDavid, because we still can't even win anything with him because of how badly this team is run.

This would certainly provide at least some motivation to Number One Fan to finally tell his childhood idols to take a hike.
