Brutal non-call there on Braun... clearly interferes on McDavid, hands to the face to slow him down, then a bit of a slew foot to trip him... all while McDavid is trying to get up the ice to negate an icing... BRUTAL. Then the ensuing face off in the Oil zone from the icing... goal sharks. Thanks refs. Thanks.

Ugh. I've tried to be optimistic and confident but losing this one with the teams around us all picking up points today (well... mostly) and then the upcoming games. Ugh.

It was a really bad call, but the bigger question is why PPs were 5 for Sharks and 1 for Oilers. Were the Oilers gooning it up? Did it even look like they were getting physical?

Not a chance. Not from the almost 2 periods that I saw. I mean, the Oilers suck enough... we don't need the refs against us every night too.

Oilers don't have the best team, and have the ability to lose the game themselves, but as you say that shouldn't permit the refs to tip the scales even further. Those refs were terrible, all weak calls, yet McD is manhandled all night and .. nothing. Best refs I remember recently were the two that reffed the Minnesota game, penalties were called evenly, the level required for a call for one team was the same for the other. This can not be said for 80% of the rest of Oilers games.

Have to agree with you and it’s much deeper than just non calls on infractions to McDavid. Early in the Hitch era I thought it was changing, as iirc there were a couple games we actually got those calls. Ironically enough, we were winning games then too.
Listening to Hitch’s comments tonight after the game, it sounds as though he’s a mix of livid, exhausted and embarrassed. And I don’t blame him. It’s a shame the players don’t have the same emotion or even a fraction of it.
