Habs games aren't about the standings, they're about season ticket holders selling their tickets to Habs fans and the Oilers making them feel miserable about their purchase. That's all.

7 -1 win for Montreal. Goal-tending pathetic as per usual and team continues to show that they quit under Tmac.

Probably a good night to PVR again.

WT EFF?....10 days since the win over Detroit and what had looked like a competent group for a long stretch prior to that, what's going on? All teams go on a funk for a stretch at some point, but this looks like it's gone off a cliff. It's like they're so fragile that they get mired in a negative outcome and the whole team catches the same flu.

The keys to this game are simple. Goaltending needs to stand, to not let in the first or second shot against, period. The team needs to not get in a 2-0 hole in the 1st, and like it or not Connor and whoever his linemates are (sounds like the Draisaitl plan to drive the 2nd line is on the back burner) needs to strike early to get the team on their backs.

If Montreal scores early, this is probably over early, and I don't see how the HC comes through a 5 game skid in a season where he's got no capital to spend to overcome it. The GM doesn't have the capital either.

Definite PVR game. I've seen Montreal play, their record is not surprising when you see them play, they are everywhere, quick, everyone is on the puck at all times, all hustle. You can't always bring more skill as a player, but you can always bring more hustle and intensity (note to Oilers not named Connor).

But, just remember, if you take any risk that goes bad, it'll probably end up in your net, and you will get a custom video of your mistakes from the coach after the game that you have to watch.

....I never want anything but a win for the Oilers... after all, this is oilfans.com and even a tier 97 fan like me always feels euphoric and happy with an Oiler victory....however, the franchise does need a major housecleaning and maybe a poor performance tonight would be a reality check even for Mr. Katz...

....even some of the main stream media and most positive supporters on the oil blogosphere are starting to clamour for changes...for example, Lowetide has been very supportive through the Oilers over the years, but even he recognizes that the franchise is stuck in the mud....obviously individual players haven't played up to their potential or cap hit every game, but this isn't all on the players; it's on coaching and management and ultimately ownership
