Enjoy, seeing McDavid live for the first time really is pretty amazing. No matter how fast you think he is on TV it's unreal live.

Interesting that Yama is starting and JP isnt even dressed. Could be a sign that Yama has earned his 8 game reg season stint and JP starts in the minors? I was thinking today that doing that does give the kid a reward for a great camp but saves the contract year and sends him motivated back to junior. Also, lowers the chances of JP hitting rookie bonuses would could be very valuable.

Games left that I have to see Kris Russell in an Oilers jersey=398

When Nurse fills out and gets his man strength, he’s gonna be a scary dude to play against. Big frame, just waiting for it to fill out.

Shorthouse and Garrett are by far the worst commentating team in the league.

It’s like he has a Game Genie under his jersey. Always moving to the right spot and twice as fast as everyone else.

Game Genie...that's a blast from the past. Awesome reference!

That Nurse/Gryba pairing man... just as I remember it...

omg... These 2 are going to be so hard to watch this year.

Do something Chia! Save us! Nurse needs a parter that isn't even more clueless out there than him in his own end.

The play leading to that penalty looked familiar. Oilers defenceman gets the puck, quick ring around the boards without looking, good read for the Canucks as they step up to keep it in, which ends up with guys a little bit caught, and Larsson takes a holding penalty.

Hopefully that's a one-off, and not still a standard move.

Eesh - that's some high hopes there. That's a solid decade + staple of Oilers play. You need to respect history. What would the Oilers be without the Staios Special?

If we go by tonight, it is confirmed. If this team ever wants to win it all, they need Drai to center his own line. And you can't just do it when needed in the playoffs. He needs the experience of playing that role throughout this season.

Don’t want to get bogged down in the BS, don’t want to get too much in the discussion of what is wrong with the team, where the weaknesses are etc., just want to take the approach I am going to cheer the guys on and try to enjoy the ride without getting too frustrated... that being said...

I can tell you one thing, I never liked Todd McLellan, I don’t like this coaching staff, and the way they’re going to use Draisaitl, continuously pulling him off his own line and putting him with McDavid is going to drive me nuts, I can sense it already. That is my own negative comment.

Have a sinking feeling with McLellan that he is only ever going to be able to get good production out of top end elite talents. Honestly, he never really proved at any point in his NHL career that he can do much more than that. Had a sweet situation in SJ having like 5 or more all-stars on his team at all times that he rode like crazy. And year after year when his top end guys got locked down in the playoffs, it was game over for SJ in the playoffs. Now here, it's gonna be all McDavid/Drai/Klef/Talbot, and everyone else is just lost in the desert playing uncreative hockey.

That's my negative doomsday comment before the season even begins icon_biggrin
