After JL's freakout and fecal-level performance this season, this is no surprise. I'd rather have an AHLer who wants to be here and is aching for the chance to prove himself (just like Arco) than a career backup who seems to think that he's earned his due and can go off at players that are playing as poorly as he is.
Get them both gone (DD and JL) IMO, we can't really be much worse in net. DD is in a contract year and he's playing this poorly? That's a sign to me.

5 Cups and counting.

Except he's played very well the last four outings.

The Oiler's power play and penalty kill are jokes, which, last time I checked had not much to do with goal tending.

Sure, it'd be nice if we had goal tenders that could walk on water, but few teams do, and a lot of those team make the playoffs.

Not that you're making any sense but at least this explains some of your views...

About time.

Labarbera can go back to being Dubnyks offseason training partner.

In fairness, his numbers are way below his career values, and looking at his career totals there does seem to be a trend where he posts really poor numbers in short stints, and does far better when he gets regular starts. However, there isn't an NHL team around who is going to try and push through this and throw their season away -- well, guess there might have been one...

Seems to be a theme here. Everyone coming to Oilers lately has career bad seasons!

Weird hey, must just be bad luck. I think we should base our opinion squarely on Hocus Pocus.

Well allow me to be a ray of positivity lmao, with this call up I changed my prediction of loss to a win. Bachman is going to be pumped, stealing the show.

I'm excited for this call up.

Do we even know if he is getting the start? Why is Dubnyk not getting a shot in back to back games?

Can't believe they would, it would be a major kick in the walnuts to Dubber, but then if this team means what it says regarding accountability and "no free passes", then go for it, but dropping a call-up into a tough game like LA would be canon fodder- I'd be surprised.

Surprised by this move, but Nelson has been raving about Bachman down in OKC, can't believe they'd start him though ... would they?... :)

@EdmontonOilers
Coach Eakins confirms this morning Richard Bachman will start in net for the #Oilers vs. LA. Dubnyk has an ankle injury.

Dang. Maybe that explains why LOLbarbera was put back in, Dubs wasn't able to continue.

So...uh...yeah...we may be in a spot of trouble here.

But, we were so close to turning it around! I guess the silver lining is that we can use the injury excuse again if this ends up being another failed season.

Getting awfully close to needing a 2:1 win/loss ratio the rest of the season to make the playoffs.

It's not if it's a failed season - it is a failed season. Playoffs were the goal and there is no way this team digs themselves out especially with the Olympic break.

You guys are such downers. Just look at the corsi improvement. Who cares if it might be mainly because Arco, a guy that knows how to do stuff in his own end, is playing Gagner's ice time and that when Gagner comes back we will be right back where we were last year, and the time we had the good improvement didn't translate into winning. It's still a positive icon_nod

You're only saying that because Bachman has a career .901 save percentage and 2.94 GAA and last year was even worse with .885 and 3.25 in 13 starts...

He has always been an excellent AHL 'tender, but his numbers have yet to translate well to the NHL.

I only said it because Dubs is hurt. I'm very optimistic about Bachman. Lots of players have played the best hockey of their lives as Oilers recently. I expect Bachman will just be another name to add to that list.
