I hate how much better Sestito is than our face punchers.

Sestito is a stiff, he got lucky with Gadzik, the stiff was throwing lefts, Gadzik needs some pre-game reconnaissance, his 1st year up in the NHL, he gets better.

I just meant how he can play the odd shift and do something useful, and also can get the odd big hit on skill guys. He also seems to be better at the chirping.

Not saying he's a great player or anything, but if we're definitely going to ice tough guys every night, I'd probably flip any of our tough guys for him in a millisecond. Like if you traded a turd for a polished turd.

I'd hold off on your analysis for just a bit, I've seen Sestito play a quite a few Canuck games, he's pretty usless, give it a few more games before you decide...

That's a good point. My frame of reference is him against the Oilers. Like, who DOESN'T look good against the Oilers right? :)

Great......Oiler fans beating on the glass.

Right after I complain about Canuck fans beating on glass in the pre-game thread.

Hopefully the top line experiment with Hall, Hemsky and Smyth top line with Hopkins back on Monday is over, reunite Eberle, Hopkins, Hall. Dubnyk's gotta go, this team will never go anywhere with him.

Gadzic did pretty good. Gave up some size and landed a couple good ones. Hope MacIntyre likes OKC.

Bob McKenzie: Is this good time to say, based on purely anecdotal experience, what often happens in 1st two weeks of reg season not indicative of reality? I guess if I'm in Edmonton, I'm saying, yes. Again, not scientific, but my rule: Pay no attention to 1st 2 weeks of season, but 3 weeks is a trend and after 4 weeks? Book it. Just IMO.

So when was the last time a team won being down 3 goals with less then 3:30 to play that pulled their goalie?

When was the last time a team won down 3 with 3:30 that didn't pull their goalie until there was <2 mins left or not at all? Probably about the same amount with a much larger sample size for both cases.

I think the idea is the chance of winning are damn near 0 if you just keep going as is, so might as well try to make it a 2 goal game with enough time left in the game where you would actually have a chance of scoring 2 more. Is it really that horrible to lose 6-2 instead of 5-2?

I think it is a ballsy call, and I like when coaches go against the boring, formulaic decisions. Down by three with a PP, late in the game? Anyone think you can win without taking chances at that point? And the game was lost a long time before that.
