Apparently this guy is going to be a UFA from Nebraska Omaha, according to Bobby Mac

No surprise, but Andrej Sustr, 6-foot-8 Univ of Nebraska-Omaha junior dman (UFA), has officially decided to leave school/field NHL offers.

No, because you got it wrong.

It's Oilfans PUN of the Day. And in the Glory Year of 2006, in the Golden Age of Pronger, Tarkus would distribute these awards to deserving pun-dits from across the Oilfans realm. Winners would be honoured with random prizes, like a radio flyer wagon, a marmoset, or Def Leppard.

http://cdn.infotainmentnews.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/def_leppard.jpg

It was all very subjective. Despite the name, the prize wasn't distributed daily, nor was it always truly a pun, but when you won it? For a day, you felt like a king.

Ahhh, those were the days...Alas, a long winter has fallen over Oilfans and in fact all of Oilerdom. But maybe, just maybe spring is coming at long last...

Adam has it exactly right.

To add: A lot of the people who won OFPOD's no longer post here, which partly explains the sporadic nature of the OFPOD in later years. (Just checked--the last OFPOD I awarded was almost 3 years ago, June 26/10.)

Would you believe I still have a list of winners AND what they won (and when)? Yes, I am a bit of a nerd. icon_lol (BTW Adam, you have quite the haul!)

Suomo is also right: I indeed couldn't award the OFPOD to myself, although some other posters have conferred OFPOD's on me. Kinda like honorary degrees. But cooler. icon_cool

Maybe--just maybe--if the Oilers make it to the dance, the OFPOD will return. You never know...

That's some scary recall you've got going on. icon_eek

You also won Finnegans Wake (James Joyce's wonderfully baffling novel) and a wrestling Siamese twin.

Is it ironic that I forgot about "The Persistence of Memory"? Also, I should look up recipes to find what can be made of radishes, guava, cloves and balsamic vinegar, with a dash of pot on the side.

This is quickly becoming my favourite thread at the moment. Much better than reading about the Oilers losing to San Jose (although a win would have been helpful if we need playoffs to resurrect the award!)

I can't remember if I won the prestigious award. I'm old balls.

For some reason I remember something about a large animal that does cannonballs in the pool.

You've won thrice:

Souvlaki
Schrodinger's cat
Wales (not whales, which is what you were referring to--but good times anyway)

You won:

Bahrain
The quadratic equation
The Best of Jim Nabors
Smashing Pumpkins album "Gish"

The gifts that keep on giving! icon_biggrin

If by "once", you mean "thrice", you're correct:

A coelacanth
Dordi Nordby (Norwegian curler)
Loretta Lynn

Quite possibly the awkwardest three-way ever. icon_eek
