I've got a feeling this kid is going to end up being my favourite of the bunch. Thanks for posting that.

Agreed! I love this kids attitude already. He's been the most cheerful and open of the bunch so far.

Aren't the entry level deals for the top pick pretty straightforward? They can't negotiate that much, give him the same deal as Hall and Nuge.

it's not so straight-forward when there's a new CBA coming in that could extend and modify entry level contracts. What if it changes so that it is extended to 5 years? or UFA isn't until 9 NHL seasons? This changes the dynamic and I think this may be why they're waiting ... otherwise, yes, I agree, that it would normally be a simple procedure

Even in a new CBA it will be based on draft year, kids drafted in 2012 will be governed by the current CBA

No, everyone go to his house and tell him to convince the NHLPA to get a deal done so that there actually will be a season to cheer for him in.

Thank goodness. Thought maybe he had an immunity disorder or something... Seriously, how could you get a bad leg infection falling off a treadmill?

Highly, highly unlikely from a treadmill, but possible. Bad scrape combined with unsanitary conditions in the gym.

I ended up with a skin infection from a jujutsu school on my arm cause of all the sweat and not cleaning the mats properly. That was the end of that sport for me, nasty.

Hockey players get infections from their nasty smelly gear if they don't take care. Joe Thornton ended up in hospital because of one.

Although this was in South America, I had flea bites that got infected with drug-resistant group A strep which quickly turned into necrotizing fasciitis. (there's a story in the OT back somewhere with details). At the UofA hospital, they told me of many, many cases where people lost limbs or perished. I was lucky, we prevented it from getting fully into my chest cavity - well the doctors did...

Glad Nail is ok

True, I bet a treadmill belt can get pretty dirty and if you fell on it and it was scraping up your skin, could deposit some extra junk. Still seems extremely unlikely of course and guess I still have yet to hear about a true case of it happening :)

First on, last off! He's the anti-Hemsky!

Eberle is awesome, but this dude might just be better. Can't wait to see this communist in action!

I hope he's got a backup plan with an out clause. I can't wait to see this guy on the ice! Eberle, Hall, RNH, and Yakupov are potentially a pretty sick set of forwards.

5 Cups and counting.

I'm starting to think he should spend the year in the KHL even if there is a season. Why waste a contract year for half a season? I don't think he'll be an impact player for the team this year, but next year he will be.

I'd have no problem either way. A year in the KHL against slightly less competition would be good for his development. And confidence, that guys needs to work on his confidence. icon_wink

I think the concept of a half season remains a extremely optimistic one considering the two sides still aren't to the point of having regular dialogs as the door is quickly shutting.
